Painting and Drawing Tuition
Paint4Fun
Paint4Fun is a small group of nine or ten amateur artists who meet at the local village hall to paint together and enjoy learning from each other. Most sessions start with a brief talk and/or a demonstration on aspects of colour mixing or technique. Sometimes we make a colour chart to practice mixing colours. Last term we painted winter Landscapes so our focus was on winter tones, achieving a lovely range of greys. This term we have been getting to grips with painting animals in the landscape. We have practised mixing different greens from the various shades of blue and yellow.
The Drawing Group meets one afternoon a week around the kitchen table. This is a relaxed session where the aim is to have fun and relax as well as learn new drawing techniques and hone draughtsmanship skills. We work with pretty much all the dry media – pencil, charcoal, biro, pen, and pen and wash. A break for a cup of tea and biscuit or cake provides a much needed break after intense periods of concentration.
1:1 Tuition
I also offer 1:1 tuition to those who ask for it. This can take any form that the student wishes, from completing planned exercises to just painting companionably together and exchanging ideas and comments. I take the view that the student will best know what they want to achieve and sometimes it is simply a question of offering a little advice and encouragement. The important thing is that they can take things at their own pace and feel free to experiment with new skills and techniques as they are ready to do so.
